I got an off-menu steak, they comp'd me some white cheddar potatos au gratin for a side, we started with some incredible oysters, a big crab cake and a couple of salads. You get your appetizers, your second course, your main course, and it just kinda rolls for about two hours. It's a la carte and there are courses, so getting that timing right in a high-end restaurant is critical. The food service itself, pretty flawless. The staff is personal and conversational, but they don't hover. The food and the service, IMO, are amazing. But, it's a restaurant so let's get to the point. Booths, tables with a view, tables where you can sit side by side, like me and my Lady. The decor is pretty timeless, the location is pretty prime. It's the original construction, but it's aged well. vibe right for The Dinner Date experience (any kind or occasion), but these guys have it down. Or at least one of The Places, let's put it that way. Look, here's the scoop: If you can do the pricey dinner tab and have a date you want to woo The Right Way, then this is the place. I would highly recommend the trip to Eddie V’s in Austin TX to anyone and everyone passing through there. The staff during our visit were very attentive and couldn’t have made us feel more welcomed. I ordered a bacon wrapped filet, that had crab meat, asparagus and bernaise sauce which was AMAZING! Ginny ordered a stuffed sole, which had a crab and basil risotto with a lemon sauce inside. A little something to tantalize our taste buds, he said. After having been asked if it was our first time there, a chef brought over a shrimp appetizer just because. The ambiance was great, the staff all dressed in white suit coats for the men and classy skirts for the ladies. Upon walking through the front door, we were promptly greeted by staff and it only took us a couple of minutes to be seated. Having never been to the area before, he suggested we give it a try as he said the steak he had there was one of the top 3 he’d ever had. We went to Eddie V’s from on the recommendation of our hotel shuttle driver.
